Happiness can be found where food and technology intersect — and if there’s one food digital natives love, it’s avocados. Avocados From Mexico aimed to challenge the outdated image of food and agriculture with a futuristic presence at South by Southwest (SXSW), today’s cultural hub of entertainment and tech. With an increasingly scrutinous festival audience, the brand experience needed to capture the joys of food and tech for maximum effect.

Festival-goers gathered around the AvoMatic, a branded food truck with 15 avocado treats to choose from. Instead of money, their currency was measured in “peak happiness,” captured through emotion-recognition technology and then shared as a photo to social media in a branded #AvoHappiness frame.

For anyone not at SXSW, we extended the joy and grew the brand’s connection through a national sweepstakes. Avocado lovers everywhere could capture their own #AvoHappiness via the campaign site (promoted on social) and share with a branded photo frame for prize entry.
